Inflammation is a Function of Immunity: A Fact We Must Respect

Immune health is essentially equal to the true health of the human body. Inflammation is an integral part of the immune system to help maintain that health. When there is a violation of the human body’s environment, for example, a toxin, invading organism, or an upset fear, a defense system is present to preserve and protect the person’s life.

Inflammation and The Immune System

An immediate response by a first, second, and possibly a third line of reactive cell pathways enters a scene where there is need. For instance, noxious or toxic gas or fumigant will cause a quick sneeze, cough, and flee from a danger that may cause injury or death. Another common example is a bee sting that sends an immediate signal to the immune system to halt the harmful irritant from causing further damage inflicted by the insect.

Fear is another significant threatening stress to the body that will trigger an inflammatory response that will lead to “fight or flight.” If short-lived and resolved, fear need not cause significant insult to the body. All defenses will restore to a “peaceful” state of balance. However, if prolonged, fear can be one of the most challenging reactions to the immune system. Chronic fear of threat in any form will lead to chronic illness. Thus, we have both acute and chronic inflammatory response capabilities that are always with us.

Any problem with wellness reflects the core strength of the immune defense system. Thanks to a magnificent arrangement in the creation process, the human body is born naturally ready and generally able to cope with its environment very well. With the passage of time and growth of the individual, much will be experienced and chosen that will enhance (or weaken) the immune system.

The immune system is “on guard” to protect against infections and prevent virtually every disease. However, a constant violation of stressor(s) on the mind/body/spirit environment can weaken and mar the protective effects of the immune system. When we speak of infections, cancer, autoimmune, neurological, pulmonary, cardiovascular, or virtually any metabolic illness, it is the immune system’s inflammatory response that has been called into play chronically. This breakdown is essentially a fundamental loss of balance in the internal energies of the cells that make up every organ and tissue in the body.

Importance of The Immune System

When we talk about immunity, we refer to the body’s defense system against innumerable invaders from all aspects of life. Fortunately, if a person with the capacity to make conscious decisions follows a balanced and orderly lifestyle taking proper care of one’s environment of mind, body, spirit, the likelihood of sustained healthy defense mechanisms and disease prevention is strong. But, on the other hand, to the unsuspecting and unprepared, i.e., a young child or mentally challenged person, a serious infection, illness, or disease can manifest and devastate the individual unless addressed by a caretaker.

So, for a bit on fundamentals, the immune system is comprised of organs such as the thymus gland, tonsils, spleen, bone marrow, and lymphatic system. Every person is born with innate immunity or that which is ready for the immediate emergence into world entry from the mother’s womb. Invaders recognized by the innate system are engulfed by cells called phagocytes to defend a newborn life. These active cells are found on all the skin, the corneas of the eyes, and mucous membranes of the respiratory, gastrointestinal, and genitourinary tracts.

Every person is born with innate immunity or that which is ready for the immediate emergence into world entry from the mother’s womb.

As one grows, another aspect of immunity evolves with the help of the innate system to adapt to more and more exposures for further protection. This is called the acquired immune system. The latter is one with special proteins called antibodies that form from B-lymphocytes that are derived from bone marrow and “T cells” from the thymus gland, hence “B” and “T” designations. The remarkable aspect of this system is that the cells develop a memory for the invader organisms, i.e., viruses, and recognize them so that immunity develops. This is called natural immunity, and for most humans, it is the best way we can defend ourselves against natural organisms.

If acute inflammation from an injury or set of circumstances is not resolved by natural or other interventions and becomes prolonged, we have chronic inflammation. This involves many additional immune cells that seek to contain or destroy the insulting agent. This can lead to more tissue damage with a secondary repair that includes hardened tissue called fibrosis or granulomatosis. Depending on the mental/emotional conditions present, a condition may become malignant. At that point, the immune defenses have been hit very hard, and the resolution of this disease will require the person to make significant life improvements.

Prevention of Immune Disturbances

Prevention of immune disturbances and deficiencies, or what we call in medical terms: dysregulation, involves making the best choices possible for the healthiest environment in which we can live and sustain. The goal is to ensure quick resolution of any insult and protect our immune system. Below are key ways and means to prevent or deter chronic inflammation that leads to immune compromise.

For strong immunity and healthy inflammation:

  • Reduce and remove all negative stress from your life as soon as possible
  • Breathe in 3-4 seconds and out 9-12 seconds often for de-stressing and adding years to your life
  • Cook and eat whole-food, plant-based, organic, non-genetically modified, non-chemical laden foods calmy, peacefully and with gratitude; avoid farm-raised or synthetic fish; limit or avoid most meat/poultry/dairy
  • Avoid simple sugars, refined carbs like baked desserts, candies, sodas
  • Avoid trans fats, oils like soybean, corn, safflower and palm; use olive, macadamia, coconut and avocado in small amounts if desired
  • Use only natural products (check labels and know the companies if not home-made or grown) on and in body for personal care
  • Use natural fibers and cleaning agents for home and garden or any place you dwell often in your daily life
  • Exercise daily- anyway you can- to increase your muscle movements over the entire body for at least 30 minutes, preferably outdoors in sun; indoor exercise should have proper provisions with well-ventilated area, no strong radiation from wi-fi, good foot comfort and clean water to hydrate
  • Sleep for growth and repair; seven hours is goal
  • Minimize all artificial chemicals including drugs
  • Add whole-food supplements that provide immune-enhancing ingredients including quercetin, EGCG, resveratrol, minerals, vitamin A, B, C and D

One Chew Three…Let’s Eat Consciously!

Chewing, also known as mastication, is one of the most important movements you do multiple times a day for your entire life. Mastication is essential, as is the breath for the human body to attain health. Can you imagine not being able to chew? The satisfaction of biting into a delicious fruit or crunching into a super nutty salad is a truly gratifying experience. All your senses are activated. You touch, feel, smell, hear, feel and savor the texture, aroma, and flavor of the food with delight. Your taste buds tingle with the wondrous union of the food and your mouth. The relationship is a magical one that begins in that space, and we call this the start of digestion.

However, what is truly remarkable is that digestive action is already underway as one who is about to procure food is in anticipation of its presence. Likewise, the signals to the brain for food entry into the palate are firing away. This is a seemingly simple set of actions but is quite complex, involving sensory (neurological), endocrine, cardiovascular, pulmonary, skeletomuscular, and gastrointestinal activity. After that, the orchestration of the entire scope of all body systems plays like a concert allowing the nutrients to be propelled into the cells and the metabolized unused portions prepped for elimination.

But the key to the success of the entire process belongs to the act of chewing. A slow dedicated jaw movement to break down every piece of grain, seed, leaf, or flesh is what transmits a smooth bolus to the esophagus. This tube-like organ then carefully propels the food with coordinated smooth muscle action to the stomach. From there on, some serious digestive biochemistry works on the food that ultimately is absorbed into cells and organs, to build, repair, and maintain all of them. Without complete chewing, these digestive movements are not optimal, and the consequences can negatively impact the body. Let’s see how.

Improperly chewed food is harmful to the body for the following reasons:

  • Large food particles cannot be properly acted upon by the stomach that can cause indigestion, gas, and bloating.
  • Moreover, bacteria in large particulate food that is not enzymatically eliminated will pass down into the digestive tract and add pathogenic upset into the intestines. As a result, constipation or diarrhea can occur.
  • Insufficient salivary enzymes will not adequately initiate carb and fat breakdown.
  • Minerals, vitamins, and other nutrients are wasted if inadequate mastication has happened.
  • Overeating will occur due to hurried swallowing and lack of satiety or fullness. It takes 20 minutes for the brain to feel full. Weight gain!
  • The jaw bones are inadequately exercised, which can lead to reduced flexibility, plaque build-up with dental decay, and bone loss. Conversely, healthy chewing keeps the jaw in shape.
  • Poor chewing and hurried eating set the stage for GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) — a problem that affects more than 44% of the US population.

So, it is for the sake of your health and well-being that you stop and sit down comfortably to appreciate your meal or snack. Plan for at least 20 minutes to eat. Chew slowly and thoroughly- 20-30 times per mouthful. See how different you feel. You will never regret the sensation of a well-digested meal.

A Healthy Start from Sunrise to Sunset: Latest Information For A Better You

Pillars of Health

HEAL-TH is a word that we take for granted and for whatever reason, seem to have lost its true meaning and worth. Health is multifactorial and it is important for us to pull all the elements together that make sense. Let’s look at what yours truly would highlight as the fundamental ingredients of health:

  • Open your mind… OOOOmmmmm
  • Eat natural, less processed and more self-cooked
  • Chew your food thoroughly
  • Having 2-3 well-formed brown stools daily
  • Take away negatives from your life
  • Breathe right
  • Carry no baggage
  • Meditate
  • Exercise
  • Be with the sun (and see what it does for you!)
  • Touch nature and respect every bit
  • Connect with other people
  • Sleep very well
  • Have fun
  • Have gratitude to and for life

Enemies of Health

Logically and sensibly, the enemies of health are the opposite of the above pillars. And, they include some crucial elements as well that are extremely relevant to our lives today.

Here’s what I mean:

  • A closed mind cannot grow and cannot truly experience the beauty of health
  • Toxic foods/personal/industrial and environmental components that are full of pesticides, synthetic chemicals, plastics, genetic modifications, radiation and all its myriad components
  • Consuming with gluttony and insensitivity
  • Toxic fears are unrealistic and extremely detrimental
  • Hiding behind masks
  • False beliefs systems
  • Anger
  • Arrogance to all life
  • Allegiance or adherence to propaganda and demagoguery
  • Full faith or allegiance in connections that are technological, technocratic
  • Shallow breathing = shallow living
  • Holding onto the past
  • Carrying more than you truly can handle
  • Unfocused and anxiety-ridden
  • Lack of real movement – do not stop for too long
  • Staying in darkness and indoor dwellings for long periods
  • Disconnections from one another
  • Lack of sleep
  • Humdrum, monotonous, or lack of vitality
  • Lack of gratitude is akin to lifelessness

Turning Fear Around

What if you could take your fears away? Fears are learned behaviors and they start when we are very young and influenceable. If they came before birth, they can still be changed!

Have you always been afraid of the dark? Spiders? Snakes? Failure? Authority? How about if you were told that these fears can be diffused now?

The key to overcoming fear is to know that you are stronger than you think. It takes just a few moments to stop, quiet your mind and realize that:

  • You have a purpose
  • Fear is not only correctable, but it need never happen again
  • No one or thing can take away your strength if you hold to your natural strength and believe in the power of the universe within you and that which has made you possible
  • Stopping and doing nothing will get you nowhere
  • There is no better time than now to make your life the best it can be!

Let’s take a look at some of some famous people who overcame fear and touched our lives quite skillfully.

Ludwig Von Beethoven feared failure and it took many slips before he saw his skills turn to magical compositions.

JK Rowling was a single mom who felt like she was going nowhere and needed to change her attitude. A story that she created in her own imagination turned into a billion-dollar income for this lady! Who would of thought Harry Potter would become a daily spoken name?

Elvis Presley had low confidence and became a truck driver after seeing his voice was not appreciated. He persevered and became a voice that the world indeed did appreciate so much to the height of icon.

Oprah Winfrey was sexually molested by members of her own family and was mentally and physically torn until she awoke and realized that she was not submitting to depression and despondency. She is now one of the richest women on earth.

Michael Jordan never made the cut for high school basketball and was called a “slacker.” He didn’t give up and practiced repeatedly, and we all know what a superstar of a Bull he became – probably the greatest basketball player of all time, not to mention a very successful entrepreneur.

If you are at a point in your life when and where you can make a difference – and we all know how much this is needed now – start rolling and turn the wheels that will drive the bus to a better future now! You are a star in your own right!

Living Consciously is Key

Look at what you are doing and ask yourself “Is this to benefit me and my world?” Conscious living involves choosing that which preserves and protects the air you breathe, the body you have, the environment you live and dwell in. Stop, look, listen, touch/feel, meditate and make sure that it is right. How do you know it is right? Ask yourself the following:

  • Does it make natural sense?
  • Are you transforming every day?
  • Are you making changes that you want in the word?
  • Will this contribute to health and wellness?

Putting It Together For a Better You

The whole reason for waking up is to be part of a wondrous and exciting world. Fear is not healthy, not productive and not going to make this world better, so dissolve fear and begin living again.

We have up-to-date science that has proven how fear, propaganda, and the arrogance of those in “higher positions” had, has, and will continue to lead to a disturbed, warped, false, and unfulfilling existence.

When you are a conscious being, you are in balance with the universe as you truly are at one with it.

A Bit on Shilajit: What is this Amazing Substance?

Pronounced shee-luh-jeet, aka salajit and mummiya in India, shilajit is literally translated from Hindi to a “rock (shila) win (jeet)” and is also referred to as a “destroyer of weakness”. It is a substance that has been found in certain mountainous terrain on earth including the Himalayas of India and Nepal, Russia, Tibet and Chile. Known for centuries – and that it is was in fact formed over many centuries – as a power-packed sticky resin, shilajit is a byproduct of the decomposition of plants by bacteria in the layers of the mountains. It is naturally composed of approximately 85 minerals, vitamin and antioxidant ingredients.

Shilajit had been used therapeutically in ancient Indian Ayurvedic medical tradition for its energizing properties. The presence of strong antioxidants- fulvic acid, humic acids and dibenzo alpha pyrones – is what generates the significant physiological benefits. The site of action for these is within the mitochondria – the energy producing organelles of every cell of the human body. Current-day Ayurvedic and other naturopathic practitioners use shilajit to reduce or alleviate chronic fatigue, enhance brain function, alleviate digestive disorders, balance hormones, support heart health, improve bone health, enhance libido, help improve anemia and more.

Some famous figures in history who were purported to have used shilajit to enhance their strength included Aristotle, Alexander the Great and Tamerlane. According to Indian folklore, the ancestors of a langur monkey were witnessed by villagers in the Himalayas to be picking at this substance and ingesting it. These people would then consume the resin as well and discovered a newfound strength and vitality that likely contributed to their stamina in harsh terrain and climate, in battle and everyday life. In view of all the benefits that were associated with this amazing sticky resin, we have scientific studies that have validated what was intuited and experienced that we now have scientific studies for on the outstanding properties of this we call shilajit.

Some evidence has been compiled on the action of shilajit in mental health cognitive enhancement in humans with dementia with presence of abnormal tau proteins. The fulvic acid acts to prevent the aggregation of these proteins into pathological filaments. Studies on chronic fatigue syndrome have demonstrated significant energy improvements, mood enhancement and reduction of associated musculoskeletal pain. The mineral content of shilajit has demonstrated bone enhancement for osteopenia and possibly osteoporosis. Other disorders that have shown potential benefits include anemia (iron increased with shilajit), ulcerative colitis, ulcers, eczema, kidney stones, high cholesterol, hypogonadism with low sperm count and anxiety.

Shilajit is available in different forms with the sticky resin being the best that one can dissolve in some water or juice and drink down. Be advised that the taste is quite strong (just remember the value of shilajit is most important)! Taking it without food is ideal. The quality of this product is essential so do inquire on the details of where the product is made and its ingredients. There are powders, tablets, and capsules but the tablet is the other preferred form. Capsules and powdered items are not as potent and may have uncertain fillers. One can use 80-200mg in single or divided doses daily as part of a wellness program. Combining it with Coenzyme Q10 at 100-200mg is also very helpful in giving mitochondria an enhanced power boost.

In a 2009 study published in the European Journal of Social Psychology*, forming a new habit takes 18 to 254 days. This study averages those numbers out to be about 66 days for a person to form a new habit pattern. That being said, every person is different, as well as every pattern, and the amount of time it takes to form new habits.

Dairy & Gluten: What Are They Doing to Your Body?

Food is medicine. The food we eat impacts our health, and it can also affect how we feel. And, while many people consider milk, cheese, bread, and pasta to be staples in their diet, what does their consumption do to your body?

When you think of milk, what comes to mind? Do you picture Bessie the cow standing out in the field with her innocent face on just waiting to be milked lovingly by a farmer so that you have a nice glass of ice-cold milk, creamy ice cream, or rich, melty cheese on a burger?

When you think of bread and pasta, are you picturing sprawling fields of wheat all waiting to be picked with love and respect and turned into something to be used in kitchens by the hands of at-home chefs wanting to feed their family a delicious meal?

Perception Versus Reality

These images of how our food is procured may have once been the norm. However, a lot has changed in the industries that produce these foods over time.

The dairy industry has gone from hand-milking the cows to machines working on herds of cows in assembly lines crammed into factories. The cow of hundreds of years ago is not the same one that lives now — a virtual transformation into something that nature may no longer recognize as hers.

Cows currently used for the mass production of milk and its derivatives are fed genetically modified corn, soy, and other food materials that the public is completely unaware of. They are injected with antibiotics on a virtually constant basis due to udder infections (mastitis), separated from their young early in the process, and slaughtered by means no one generally knows or even thinks about.

It is a highly complex process with systems that are all arranged and organized such that the mass production moves at a very high rate of speed, and there is little time for anyone — worker or animal — to stop and even think about consequences.

Not all cows are treated like this, of course. Private ​​farmers have made efforts to preserve and protect these beautiful creatures in their own ways, worldwide. And, because of their practices, we do have more humane animal care and milk processing. However, these types of operations are dwarfed by the larger companies that have taken command of the industry as a whole.

What Is Milk?

The substance that comes from the female cow naturally consists of the following ingredients:

  • Water: 88% of milk
  • Fat: 3.5%
  • Proteins such as casein — Alpha1 Beta casein, Alpha2 Beta casein, and whey (all of which are difficult for human digestion, especially A1 beta casein, and all which are unsuitable for infants)
  • Sugar: 4.9%
  • Hormones: IGF-1, thyrotropin, gonadotropins and other hormones (nature-made for a young calf to thrive and grow on)
  • Calcium: 292 milligrams of calcium can be found in 8 ounces of whole milk
  • Magnesium: 33 mg are in 8 ounces
  • Zinc, copper, iron, phosphorous and other trace minerals (cow’s milk does not have enough iron, zinc, vitamin C, vitamin D, retinol, fatty acids for a human infant)

Compare this to human milk which contains:

  • Water: 90%
  • Fat: 4.5%
  • Protein: 0.8-0.9% (suitable for infants)
  • Sugar: 7% lactose
  • Hormones and immunoglobulins for growth and immune protection
  • Calcium: less than cow milk, but well absorbed
  • Magnesium: as above
  • Enzymes
  • Trace minerals like iron, zinc, potassium, phosphorus, etc.

The breast milk of a healthy mother who consumes quality food and lives “in health” is the best food for her infant. Hands down, nothing else compares.

The Affects of Cow Milk Protein

While the idea of protein in cow’s milk may sound good, consider that casein, which is 80% of the milk protein, is a strong binder that is not digested very well in the human intestines. It can cause things such as:

  • Allergies
  • Mucous formation in airways thus aggravating respiratory conditions such as asthma
  • Intestinal distress that can cause gas, bloating, diarrhea, abdominal pain, disruption of intestinal flora

I’m sure you have heard the old nursery rhyme about Miss Muffet eating her “curds and whey.” So what exactly is whey?

Whey is a remaining protein substance once fat and casein are removed from cow’s milk — in effect, the blood protein of the cow. Its main components are bovine serum albumin and lactalbumin plus other hormones such as estrogen and progesterone. These have been associated with diabetes and other autoimmune diseases in humans. Science continues to raise these points, but most of the public is not aware of this.

This is also the protein added to many powdered “health” formulas, shakes, and other foods because it is a protein. However, this protein is not well-understood, and the result of using it over the long term is entirely unknown.

Milk Protein: A Connection to Insulin Dependent Diabetes & Multiple Sclerosis

Let’s look at some published information from the New England Journal of Medicine and The Lancet regarding protein from cow’s milk and its connection to diabetes and Multiple Sclerosis.

In 1992, the New England Journal of Medicine noted the following connection:

“Patients with IDDM produce antibodies to cow milk proteins that participate in the development of islet dysfunction…taken as a whole, our findings suggest that an active response in patients with IDDM (to the bovine protein) is a feature of the auto-immune response.”

In 1996, The Lancet reported the following:

“Cow’s milk proteins are unique in one respect: in industrialized countries they are the first foreign proteins entering the infant gut, since most formulations for babies are cow-milk based. The first pilot stage of our IDDM prevention study found that oral exposure to dairy milk proteins in infancy resulted in both cellular and immune response…this suggests the possible importance of the gut immune system in the pathogenesis of iDDM.”

There are other references made by The Lancet indicating that dairy-rich diets have been closely linked to the development of Multiple Sclerosis (The Lancet 1974; 2;1061).

In 2001, the Journal of Immunology published a study linking MS to milk consumption. According to Dr. Michael Dosch, MD, and a team of researchers, Type 1 IDDM and Multiple Sclerosis are far more closely linked than previously thought.

“We found that immunologically, Type 1 DM and MS are almost the same — in a test tube you can barely tell the two diseases apart…previously, it was thought that MS autoimmunity would develop in the central nervous system, and in diabetes it would only be found in the pancreas. We found that both tissues are targeted in each disease.”

Cancer Link to the Consumption Cow’s Milk

Other issues can arise from the consumption of cow’s milk by humans. The dairy industry is not interested in these details, but the consumer may feel otherwise. Consumers should be aware that:

  • According to the FDA, milk may contain aspartame or other artificial sweeteners, and companies are not required to list these ingredients.
  • The idea of milk helping with weight loss is a myth. There are no studies that are worth discussing on this subject.

Studies done by Harvard researchers and in Europe have looked at milk and all its hormonal and protein components, seeing outcomes that would be disturbing to the average consumer if they looked closer.

Several studies have been done in the past 50 years examining the link between prostate cancer and dairy products. One very important link is Insulin-Like Growth Factor (IGF-1). This substance, which is naturally found in milk, has been shown to stimulate the growth of cancer cells. Studies have shown that Recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone (rBGH), commonly injected into cows to enhance milk production, will increase this IGF-1 so that this will translate to higher levels of IGF-1 in milk.

A study was done on vegans, individuals who consume no dairy products or meat, have shown lower circulating IGF-1 rates and lower cancer rates than dairy or meat-eaters.

Milk is not what it used to be. Therefore, consumers should be paying closer attention to this information for the sake of their health.

The proteins in these naturally occurring plants can cause significant intestinal disturbances in the human body. Thus, they are the cause of issues for many people who suffer after consuming them.

Gluten sensitivity is something that has been recently recognized as occurring far more than ever in the past. It is estimated that 6 out of every 100 people are gluten-sensitive.

However, not everyone who has issues after eating gluten is necessarily gluten sensitive. Some who have problems after eating gluten may be having an allergic reaction. Wheat allergies would set off symptoms like severe swelling, itching, or even difficulty breathing. If this happens when you consume a gluten product, it must be addressed seriously and quickly for that person’s safety.

Gliadin, the protein in wheat and barley, is a very sticky substance that the small intestine processes. It is not easy to break down and, as a result, can cause the following for an unsuspecting person:

  • Gas
  • Bloating
  • Pain
  • Diarrhea
  • Headache
  • Mood change
  • Body aches
  • Loss of concentration or fogginess
  • Weight gain, especially abdominal

Celiac disease is found in 1 in 133 people and is a relatively common problem, and it may be increasing in modern times. Celiac disease is usually recognized early in a person’s life, and the strict avoidance of gluten is essential in controlling it.

Unfortunately, many people did not realize they had Celiac disease early on in the past, so they did not receive treatment until after they spent decades suffering.

Fortunately, today we are aware of this kind of problem, and it can be easier to diagnose and treat. If you suspect you have a gluten sensitivity, please talk to your healthcare provider as soon as possible.

You may want to look at a low-gluten diet to see how you feel after cutting it out of your diet, but do remember that you need to have a good source of proteins, carbs, and fats to maintain good nutritional health.

What Is Gluten Free?

Being gluten-free means that you only eat foods that do not contain gliadin from wheat, barley, or rye.

This means a diet that consists of only meat, milk, fish, eggs, fruits, vegetables, nuts, rice, beans, seeds, sugar, water, coffee, tea, and any other product that has no gluten added. You can also consume quinoa, millet, hemp, teff, and rice that are not processed with wheat, barley, or rye in the factories that put them together.

Oats are also non-gluten, however, they contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to gliadin in wheat, but it may not cause distress in most people. Those who have Celiac must be aware of this protein, and if it causes distress, it needs to be eliminated from the diet.

Oats must be labeled “gluten-free” for those who are sensitive to the avenin. Just be aware that oats are often grown close to wheat, barley, and rye. Because of this, gliadin and other proteins may be exchanged during the growing process. Therefore, it is best to see how well your body feels when oats are eaten. If you suspect any problem, eliminate the oatmeal or other cereal containing it for a few weeks and then retry and see how your body responds.

Also, be advised that alcohol may contain gluten if processed in containers lined with gluten flour. Beers that have hops and barley are to be considered, and if you are sensitive, do not consume them. Celiac sufferers would do best to choose among wine, champagne, and gluten-free beer.

What About A Low Gluten Approach?

It is prudent to see if you are sensitive to gluten before considering your exact approach to handling it. For example, hold off gluten for thirty days and then reintroduce one item at a time to see if you experience symptoms of bodily discomfort.

Even better, reduce your consumption of wheat products as a whole. Flour-based foods can be a source of many different ailments, from allergic reactions to respiratory, ear, nose, and throat discomfort to a litany of digestive problems, joints problems, and mood swings.
